NJB CITY HOOPS
A league built for youth to have fun and learn the fundamentals first!
As a coach and player most youth leagues today have little time for coaches to practice and work on the things that really count to children that are developing. Many of these coaches are volunteers and are great to have supporting youth basketball. As director of the league, coach and a degree in teaching I try to make sure we learn from the ground up. We didn't start running till we started crawling. I accomplish this goal by making things fun and showing the players how to socially interact and develop. Parents after the league always personally come up to me and say, "It's amazing how far they have come and now look at them." I always reply, "They did all the work." I want the kids to leave excited and wanting to carry on basketball.
I am always asked what about my son who already plays or might be better than some of the other kids. I say, have him join because there is always something for him to learn and develop. I take different approaches with each skill level and challenge those who are more skilled. No one, even myself walks away with out developing more.
